ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS – PASTOR Bill Ivy – FRIDAY – JULY 24, 2026
It has always been; in the history of world events or religion, there are those that follow leaders without knowing where they are being led. It first takes the form of a charismatic leader, one that has been gifted with the ability to lead and influence the minds of people. That is to influence them to the way of his thinking, making them believe it is better even though the hearer at first might wonder, “is this right.” They believe it anyway.
The greater problem is not with the leader, but in those that will choose so easily to follow. As an old pastor I have seen it too many times, and it deeply hurts when I see it taking shape. It is the response of the followers that becomes stronger than the leader. It advances especially by the younger ones that do not have a long historical connection with the battle of truth. It happens repeatedly.
The answer is; don’t follow the crowd. The crowd is almost always wrong. People follow not because of what they hear, but what they see – “everyone else is doing it.”
Christianity is not a democracy or a consensus, but it is a single walk of faith for those that are willing to walk alone with Jesus Christ the Word. He will always be the same when others that you love and care about are walking to the beat of a new drum, because it is the going fad.
Jesus Christ is the leader to hear, and by faith you follow what you hear, KNOWING where you have been and where you are going.
It is wrote in red: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matt 7:13-14)
