John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Matt 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures , nor the power of God.

Matt 26:56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

THE SCRIPTURES – “THE” added to a word or name does something special. It gives the following word special emphasis of importance as “THE only one.” There are many writings by great men, but there is only ONE that is called by Christ “THE Scriptures.”

How important is the Bible to us today. Do we even take time to read the Scriptures when they are posted, or do we go on to something we would rather read because other writings are more important to us?

Paul didn’t waste any time in prison (feeling sorry for himself and complaining). Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he wrote powerful, letters to the church. These became “THE Scriptures” to us today.

How important are THE Scriptures!

Men fought and died to preserve them for the generations to come. In them you believe we have eternal life. Don’t be deceived be believing without THE Scripture, trusting without THE Scripture, or revelation without THE Scripture.

This was my subject Wednesday night at LWT – archived at our church website.
