The Book of Numbers the 22 chapter gives an interesting story of two Prophets.  This was during the earthly journey of the Children of Israel to their promise land.  During this journey they met the King of the Moabites.  He being fearful of Israel hired the best preacher in the land to come and hold him a meeting in order to curse Israel.  Thus enters a prophet by the name of Balaam.  Balaam was a real prophet, anointed by God, and could only speak prophecies of blessings to Israel, even though he wished to curse them.  He could see no natural goodness in Israel and felt it would please God to curse them.  However, he failed to see a higher goodness in God’s elected people.  It was a goodness provided by the atonement, in spite of their mistakes.  This atonement was provided by the brass serpent and a smitten rock which represented a crucified Lord Jesus.  Was Balaam a real prophet?  Yes, in fact anointed by God, speaking prophecies that are still coming to pass!  But he wanted to stop God’s people!  And we know for the wrong reasons; the Kings honor and his reward.

Israel also had a prophet, Moses, chosen and elected of God to lead the people.  He worshipped with seven altars as the scriptures said Balaam worshipped.  He too was anointed of God, spoke prophecies that are still being fulfilled daily.  They both were REAL prophets!  What was the difference?  They seem to be identical in most ways.  I ask again; what was the difference between these two prophets?

The answer is simple; one was a false prophet and the other true!

The same principle applies today!  The true and false can be so close that it would almost deceive the very elected if possible.  We need to know the difference!  But how do we know the difference?

The answer is very simple again; give it the WORD TEST.  It is the Word and the Word only that will identify the difference between the true and the false.  In fact, the only evidence that a person has the Holy Ghost is they well believe and follow the truth of God’s Word as revealed from the Bible, in the day which one lives.

What did William Branham teach in regards to this?  I believe he was a prophet in the spirit of Elijah (Malachi 4:5-6).  I also believe he was the Seventh Church age messenger, and the Seventh Angel of Revelation 10:7.

It might be asked; what Identification does he have to be that Seventh Angel?  Only one; that is the WORD!

The following is just a few quotes from William Branham in regards to the Identification of a true prophet and how WE CAN KNOW.

59-0415E  THE.FAITH.OF.ABRAHAM_    …“By His stripes you were healed.” Now, first the Word says so. That should be sufficient. But if you don’t believe it in the Word, then there’s gifts in the church, such as men who are inspired to know how to teach that, that’ll make it so plain to you.  And faith to believe… Prayer for the sick, just like for the sinner. And then there’s other gifts in the church like prophecy and different gifts.

Now, there’s five offices of the church: Missionaries or apostles (both the same), prophets, teachers, pastors, and evangelists. God puts those in the church, and they’re all to edify the church.

Unquote: [EDIFY – enlighten, inform, educate, instruct, teach.]

58-0619E  CAN.WE.SEE.JESUS_      In the Old Testament, many of you scholars here know, that they had a way of finding out whether a prophet told the truth or not, or a dreamer, whether his dream was of God or not. They taken him to the temple and before the Urim Thummim, which was the breastplate that Aaron wore with the twelve stones in it. And then when the prophet prophesied, no matter how real it seemed, if that supernatural Light didn’t flicker, a conglomeration of all the stones together flicker a light, then the prophet was wrong. Regardless of how good it seemed, it was wrong, and the dreamer was wrong.

And if it… Though it didn’t seem like it was right to the priest, and yet God vindicated it with supernatural, flickering on these Lights, it was received as being from God. Any of you scholars know that. Well then, in the Old Testament… And that priesthood ended; that Urim Thummim ended with that priesthood. But God’s got another Urim Thummim for this priesthood, and that is His Bible. And if a preacher preaches, a prophet prophesies, a dreamer interprets a dream, anything contrary to God’s Word, it’s wrong. But if it’s in the Word, it’s right. “Whosoever shall take anything away from the Book, or add anything to the Book…” Therefore, I don’t want any more than it teaches, but I want all that It teaches.

Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

EPHESIAN.CHURCH.AGE  –  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK  CPT.3       But God’s Word can’t change. The Seed came exactly as revealed. Hallelujah. And see what those false apostles were doing. They came with their own word. Those Ephesians knew that Word as Paul had taught it. They were full of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of Paul’s hands. They looked those false apostles in the eye and said, “You are not saying what Paul said. You are, therefore, false.” Oh, that sets my heart on fire. Get back to the Word! It is not you that really tries the apostle, and prophet and teacher, IT IS THE WORD THAT TRIES THEM.

59-1123  SPEAK.TO.THIS.MOUNTAIN_    And if that Angel told me one thing that wasn’t Scriptural, I would not believe Him. It has to be with the Word first. God’s Word is eternal.

PERGAMEAN.CHURCH.AGE  –  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK  CPT.5     How can you tell the spirits apart? Just give them the Word test. If they don’t speak that Word, they are of the evil one. As the evil one deceived the first two brides, he will try to deceive the bride of this last day, by trying to get her to hybridize herself through creeds, or just plainly turning from the Word to any sign that suits her.

PERGAMEAN.CHURCH.AGE  –  CHURCH.AGE.BOOK  CPT.5       The last day messenger will appear in God’s appointed time. It is the end time now as all know, for Israel is in the homeland. Any time now he will come according to Malachi. When we see him, he will be dedicated to the Word. He will be indicated (pointed out in the Word. Revelation 10:7.) and God will vindicate his ministry. He will preach the truth as did Elijah and be ready for the Mount Zion showdown.
