SINCERITY IN WORSHIP

Have we lost our sincerity in worship?  Worship is the expression of honesty, genuineness, and seriousness.  The last Prophet (Malachi) of the Old Testament said, the Jewish nation had lost their sincerity.  Even after being restored back to their land, from seventy years captivity in Babylon.  Jehovah, had encouraged them through the preaching of Ezra, Zerubbabel, and Joshua to worship properly and by the rebuilding of the Temple.

The Prophets Zechariah, and Malachi, let them know prophetically this restoration of the Temple and Temple Worship was for the long awaited coming of their Messiah!  Not realizing it would be four hundred years until He would arrived.  After a period of time, their expectations waned, and with it their sincerity in worship. Sincerity is to expect His coming today, if not today, tomorrow – but, to live right now without being indifferent to our responsibilities as husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, factory workers, nurses, business men, preachers and Christians, regardless of how long He delays His Coming!  That kind of sincerity will conquer every devil you meet in life from the biggest down to the smallest.  It takes the worry away, and puts your trust in God’s Word!

Do not ever let your worship become formal and insincere.  Formality in worship is doing things according to the prescribed methods.  It is like this; “it is time to sing, time to stand and praise, to shout, to go to the altar, to get emotional,” because that is what everyone else is doing.  If that is the way you have been trained, if that is the acceptable thing in your church, that is wonderful, but it can become just formal insincere worship.  Worship is NOT how you sing and shout, but WORSHIP is how you treat deity, with respect and the love He deserves. This is hard to comprehend in an age that rejects authority.

We need to be concerned about carrying out faithfully the Lord’s instructions.  Being true to our commitment to Him, our love to Him and others.  The Coming of the LORD will be on time.  Our future is secure, the Rapture and the Resurrection is secure, because His Word is assured.  God is behind it and it cannot fail, and neither will you.

Do not look for some new fandangle message to make you happy, do not drive one mile to find out what it is about!  Be sincere in who you are and what has been given to you, and if it is the WORD, you will conquer every demon you meet, from Goliath on down!

1 Cor 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
