WHAT IS SECULARISM?

We hear a lot about secularism, what is it?  Secularism is the rejection of religion or in most cases Christianity and its exclusion from our social and moral lives.  This makes it a wholesale rejection of God, and His Word, even though those who practice it, do not perceive it as such.  Because it is not always the rejection of belonging to church, or even participating in a particular faith, but of having a serious understanding and faith in what God has spoke to us today, as He has in past ages.   I am afraid it is not just in government, media and education.  I believe it hits a lot closer to home!

We can see the “left” and the “right” in national politics.  The “left” or liberal agenda is to do away with Christian values and replace them with the humanism doctrine, which is a morality based on what people believe is best for them, rather than on any Divine authority.  If the people want same-sex marriage and believe it is right, than it is right or if a lack of any moral principle found in God’s Word is acceptable to the people, who is to say it is wrong!  However, there must be a standard based on an absolute authority or people will go into utter confusion!  Everybody and everything cannot be right!

Secularism is the doctrine of humanism that started in the Garden of Eden and continued when Cain worshipped in self-will.  We see it again when Balaam went with King Balak to curse Israel when God already told him not to go.  Secularism is also found in Revelation 13:4 with the worship of a holy man (the anti-christ) and in Revelation 17 where we see,  Mystery Babylon, the mother of harlots (denominationalism).  Secularism is “doing it your way”, regardless of what the Word of God tells us or any other true authority that is defined by the Word of God.  Right and wrong is on trial, and it seems as if right is being found guilty!

Secularism does away with Divine leadership, replacing it with human leadership apart from God.  This can be human leadership of  yourself, your own choosing, or someone that becomes the final authority to us in things right or wrong.  Make sure that final authority is right, then follow it with all your heart!

Rev. William Branham made the following statement in a testimony titled “Testimony Raising Dead Boy” (1953).

” Here’s an old slogan I want you to remember it. ‘Do right; That’s your duty to God. Think right: That’s your duty to yourself. And you’re bound to be right.’ That’s right. See? You’ll come out right if you’ll do right. That’s your duty to God. Think right; That’s your duty for yourself, and you’ll come out right.

I told my boy here when he was fourteen years old. I said, ‘Stand, hold your hands out like this, son. You’re coming to the adolescent age now, place where I’m away from home a lot. Now, I won’t be able to direct you.’ And his mother’s dead. I said, ‘And now I want you to hold your hands out.’ I said, ‘This is your right and left hand.’ I said, ‘As long as you’re going this a way, we’ll say that’s wrong and this is right.’ I said, ‘You can’t be going right and wrong at the same time. Now, as long as you’re going that way, you’re going wrong. You may think you’re going right, may seem like you’re going right, but you’re going to come out wrong. And when you’re going this a way, you may think you’re going wrong, but you’re going right, and you’re bound to come out right.’ Isn’t that the truth? It’s just exactly truth.

I said, ‘Just remember. Now, any time you ever get in trouble when daddy comes to you. I’m going like this with my arms spread out, say, ‘Which side did you take, son?’ That’s right. ‘You’re a free moral agent now. You have to act for yourself. I’ve raised you up the best that I knew how to this age now. You’re going to get out with other boys in high school and college and around, and you’re going to have everything before you. But remember always hold fast to the right. Keep to the right; you’ll come out right.’”

This is a religious secular world in which everyone is doing what everyone else is doing.  the Bible, which is God speaking to us in print form, tells us the majority of people are going the wrong way.  Matt 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.  Only the right-eous by God’s standard and not what man thinks is right will be blessed and happy in this life, and receive eternal blessings in the life to come.  Let us do right, think right, in accord with God’s “right” and I believe everything is bound to come out right!
