“Everybody wants to go the heaven, but nobody wants to die.” That was an old saying I heard all my life. As a child, I remember attending an old fashion camp meeting. It was a denomination gathering of churches; a special speaker came to the platform and approached the microphone. He was dressed like a cowboy with six guns on his hip. He pulls the gun, pointed it at the audience and said, “How many of you would like to go to heaven!” Out of what looked like, to me, hundreds of people, none rose to take him up on his offer.
However, the only way we can get there is to die. Yes, there will be the Rapture. There will be those according to scripture changed, but even they must die while living for Christ. The apostle Paul said, “I die daily (Cor 15:31).” A death takes place daily in all of us as Paul states. That death comes as we suffer the trials we go through and the many disappointments we endure. As we LIVE for Jesus, we are constantly dying to this world around us; the world of ourselves, the world of our own desires and our own will. It is not easy, He never said it would be easy, and sometimes we think we will not make it. But you will make it, Christ promised you would. As a Christian we ARE going to heaven, and you will have to die to get there! “Everybody wants to go the heaven, but nobody wants to die.”
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
