OVERCOMING THOUGHTS – Pastor Bill Ivy – July 14, 2020
The word OVERCOME is an important word to the Believer. It means to Conquer problems, to struggle successfully against a difficulty or disadvantage.
In the Bible we find that every age of the church had its overcomers. Though they were few, they overcome the pressures in which they lived (Rev 2 and 3). Of each age it is said; “to him that overcometh…”
We have more obstacles to overcome, than any age that preceded us. This is the final age. The difficulties we face, the disadvantages that surround us as individuals are more because they have never been greater.
DON’T BE IDLE
We should not set back and idly let the devil take advantage of us because we have been provided with the means to overcome the temptations of this final age! Otherwise it would not have been said to this age; Rev 3:21 “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
Dear Saints, that is a promise which pertains to the rapture! But never forget, it is said, to HIM that overcometh, it is you and me that must overcome, no one can do that for us, not even the LORD! He overcame so as to give us an example.
The Believer overcomes because he or she is a believer! As the Bride of Christ you are called and equipped to overcome the age in which you live! There was a few in every age, there will be a few in this age!
2 Thess 3:13 “…be not weary in well doing.”
Yes, it is so very easy to become discouraged with everything we see and hear today. We can’t help but wonder where and what is all this leading to?
For one, I believe we are living in the most blessed time that man could ever live. Yes I do, because I believe this is the final age of the church, and the going home time for the Bride of Jesus Christ. It is this last age that faces the greatest struggle, but it is this last age that sees the greatest blessings! The rapture and resurrection of all the saints come at a time like this.
Notice; Jesus was ask by the mother of James and John if her boys could sit one on his right and the other on his left in his kingdom. Listen to Jesus’ response; “Matt 20:23 “…to sit on my right hand , and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.” That place was not yet to be given. It was reserved for those of this final age as a reward for OVERCOMING the most evil age of all.
To overcome and be rewarded is to be tested, the test is the greatest thing God does for us. It proves who we are and is evidence of the LORD’S confidence in us. The test is on, no one can deny it, but we must press on to the end and not give up. Let us make OURSELVES ready!
Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
Could it be, the marriage supper is next for the Bride and the world is just beginning to feel a little bit of what it will be like in the tribulation after the Bride is called away? If so… THIS IS THE MOST GLORIOUS TIME TO BE A CHRISTIAN AND A OVERCOMER!
