A CUP OF COLD WATER may not seem like much. However, in the right hands, and used in the right way, may have great benefits. For example, Jesus said; given to a little one will be rewarded. As found in Matthew 10:40-42, referring to prophets, righteous men and little ones. That includes all of those sent by Christ – there will be a reward for just receiving them.
This was spoken to Christ disciples as He made preparations to send them to preach, teach and perform the supernatural to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
THOSE THAT HE SENDS WILL NOT BE RECEIVED
Jesus let them know, that most would not receive you, therefore you will be persecuted, hated and rejected. But some will receive you and receiving you, receive Me. The opposite true for those that would reject you. Remember, It is Christ they reject. But to those that receive you, just a cup of cold water given in My name to a little one will not lose a reward! (The disciples were the little ones.)
THERE IS A REWARD FOR THOSE THAT RECEIVE WHO HE SENDS
Jesus said; “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.”
MINISTERS ARE AMBASSADORS OF ANOTHER KINGDOM
Jesus Christ takes what is done for his faithful ministers, kindness or unkindness, as done to Himself. He reckons himself treated as they are treated. “He that receiveth you receiveth me.” Ministers are ambassadors for Christ. Honor or dishonor put on an ambassador reflects honor or disrespect upon the prince that sends him.
MINISTERS WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE CHURCH AND MUST BE RECEIVED
His ministers will always be with the church, because Christ will always be with the church. By properly entertaining Christ’s ministers, you entertain angels unaware. Matt 25:37 “…Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?” Can we answer that question as the Lord did?
Receiving one of those little ones will not lose its reward. Not because they are great, but because they are what they are, and sent by Christ. It is your love to Christ that puts the right value on the kindnesses you do His ministers.
What is the reward? Being a friend, he will pray for you and be there to minister to your needs!
