FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!  There are certain things that causes me anguish, pain, and anxiety.  How about you?  Every one suffers with fear, even the Christian.  Fear cripples our faith.

There are two factors that govern our life and our success in life; faith and fear.  Faith is of God, fear is of satan, faith has value and there is no value to fear.  There are also two types of fear; the first is a fear that is respect, which we give to those we love, such as the elderly and God.  It is more of a righteous fear, holding one in high esteem.  This kind of fear is lacking today.

The second is a weary and a dread, this I want to talk about, things we fear that have no value.  We fear harm that could come to our bodies and even death.  Whether it be on accident or someone that would deliberately harm us.

This fear is harmful and causes some to even be afraid of the Word.  When they hear about sin and the consequence of it or about the soon coming of Christ it causes a dread.  A fear of something that should make them glad.

To the Believe the same Word brings rest.  We are not slaves to be forced to obey, but we are children with a willing heart.   Rom 8:15 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

Many people today fear responsibility and say, “I won’t be able to do it,” or “I will fail if I try.”  It is a fear of what the future holds.  Perhaps a fear to cope with the responsibly of being a adult.

There were those that feared the angel.  Mary the virgin, when the angel appeared to her, he must of seen her fear, saying; “fear not.”  We should never fear the angel.  Do not be suspicious of, distrust or have a lack of confidence in the angel, whether it be a heavenly angel or an angel behind the pulpit.

There is a fear of being little, insignificant and unimportant.  However, In the Old and New Testament, God always without exception used the little.  There was little David, Shamgar and his ox gourd, and just twelve disciples that were chosen to change the world for Christ!

I have met people that are terrible afraid of the weather when it turns bad.  Others afraid of a little spider, some that are afraid of riding in elevators, being in a small closed room, around a lot of people or being alone.  These are fears that are irrational, but powerful!

Fear is bad for the believer.  it is the opposite of believing.  one of the worst things satan can place on you is fear.  It is the biggest curse there is on the people of God.

What do I do about?  How do I overcome my fears?  1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”  This is a love that is described with the word “perfect.”  Perfect love which is the same as perfect faith, a love that is mature, trusting, believing in who God is and that He keeps His Word.  When we love right, it will cast out all fear.

Perfect love is the Holy Ghost, which is the only thing (perfect love) that will be in heaven.  As a Christian I have a portion of that now, Eph 1:13 “…ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.”

Though it might be just a shadow of a shadow of what is in heaven, it is still perfect!  With that shadow, when this life is over, I will move from a shadow to a shadow to a perfect light, back to the very essence of that perfect love.  With that I overcome my fears now!
