I have heard it often said to me as a pastor; “How can I be sure of my salvation?”  It is surprising how many real genuine Believers wrestle with this question; how do I know and how can I be sure?  This has been ask by good people many times that I believe are already real Christians with the spirit of God.  I will preach a stirring sermon that convicts the heart.  The altar call is given and many times it is those that you know are real and genuine that respond, while those that you know need to, do not respond.

The apostle Peter was ask the question in Acts 2:37 what must we do to be saved.  This question came after his first sermon on salvation at the day of Pentecost.  It was obviously a stirring sermon that produced conviction in the hearts to those that heard it.  Rom 10:17 “…faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  In Acts 2, after hearing, something spoke to the hearts of those that heard, “I want to be right, I want to be saved from the wrath that is to come.”  John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”  To believe is to act in faith on what you have heard.  They believed and acted on faith in what they heard and were saved.

Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”  By excepting and acting upon the Word they were saved!

I believe most of the misunderstanding comes because people do not understand the atonement.  In the Old Testament there was a atonement for sin, it was represented by the shed blood of an innocent lamb.  This atonement could not take away sin, it just covered it until the true atonement came which was the Lamb of God.  Jesus took our sins at the cross forever, the sinless one become sin for us and paid the debt of sin that day at Calvary.  This did not merely cover our sins but it took them away, past, present and future.  That is when the believer was saved, by excepting what has already been done for them.  Eph 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith.” This is how Believer knows he can be assured that he is still saved; Heb 9:12 “…but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”  It is that blood that was shed that keeps us saved, which is a bleeding Word today.  A word that only a true heart can except and act upon. The atonement works!

The atonement is not; listening to taped sermons, not because you love a certain minister, hear a spiritual pep-talk, or move to a certain holy place that you believe God is at.  Those things may be alright, but they are not the atonement.  The do not assure your salvation!

What did Brother William Branham (1909-1965) say?

[The following is a personal interview Brother Branham had with Sister Georgia Bruce during the song service preceding the Message, “The Masterpiece” during which he refers to this interview in paragraph 57–Ed.]

I visited you in the hospital that time. And I prayed, constantly, God wouldn’t let you die, ’cause you’re a value to the church. Now, I know you. I know you’re going to be all right, Sister Bruce. I believe that with all my heart, see.

[Sister Georgia Bruce says, “Brother Branham, most of all, I want the experience that I been sealed in the Holy Ghost. And if God will reveal it to your heart!”–Ed.]

I believe, with all my heart, that you are a real born-again believer, Sister Bruce. How could that Spirit just leave? When you get sick, you get weary. And you’re a nervous-type person. [Sister Bruce says, “Yes.”–Ed.] See? And–and you get things on your mind, see, little bitty things. It just keeps building up, both ways. You’ll get somebody on your heart, you want to pray for them, get up and pray for it. You can’t rest till you get that person prayed for. That’s you. Then, take on the other side, Satan maybe might present something that you… and out this way. See? Then God… You, you’re a nature. And God works. And Satan works, then when Satan tries to make you believe that you are not. See? You keep building This, and maybe this and this. See? Don’t look at yourself, Sister Bruce. Remember.

I’m fixing to pray for you. I’m not worthy of that. I think, “What would I do if Jesus Christ was sitting here now? And what would He do if He was sitting here?” He’d lay His hands upon you, and with His great faith, see, you’d get well. “Well,” I think, “well, I’m a sinner. I’m not Him.” But I come to represent Him. But, remember, me being a sinner; and before God, I’m not a sinner, neither are you. We got a Blood Sacrifice laying There. God don’t even see us. He hears our voice, but He sees the Blood of Christ. That’s it. See? He sees the Blood of His Own Son. It’s our voice; Christ’s Blood; then it’s Christ that’s talking through us, to God, so therefore we’re not sinners no more. We are Christian. I believe you to be a genuine Christian woman. I remember the thing…

[Sister Bruce says, “I make so many mistakes, and I fail so many times.”–Ed.]

That’s why Christ had to die, so that you, with your mistakes, wouldn’t be lotted to you. See? He took your mistakes. Your desire in your heart is to serve Him. [Sister Bruce says, “Yes.”–Ed.] All right. That’s what He died for, so you could serve Him. See? Not… Your mistakes are not looked, not lotted to you. See? He is your propitiation. See? He is your sin-offering. Your sins are not known. You’re not a sinner, before God. Christ took your sins, and became you. Cause, your desire is to serve Him.

[Sister Bruce says, “But I’ve never had an experience that I have been filled the Holy Ghost, that I could put my foot on.”–Ed.]

All right. Notice this. Ordinarily, a human being is born in sin, shaped in iniquity, come to the world, speaking lies. That’s the nature of a human being. [Sister Bruce says, “Yes.”–Ed.] That was your nature. It changed once. But what changed it? [“Christ.”] There you are, sister. See? That’s it.

“He that heareth My Words, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath Eternal Life, and shall not come to the Judgment; but hath,” past tense, “passed from death to Life.” Saint John 5:24, Jesus speaking. See?

So, you, you’re–you’re a Christian, Sister Bruce. I’ve watched your life. I’ve watched you, under vision, and I know you’re a Christian. See? Not one speck of… See, I am your shepherd, as it was, [Sister Bruce says, “Yes.”–Ed.] somebody to help. See? If there was any doubt in my mind, if I thought you was something was wrong, I’d tell you, Sister Bruce. [“I believe that.”] But if there’s anything wrong, in your experience, anything wrong between you and God, as far as I know anything about it, Sister Bruce, there’s not a thing. There’s not one thing.

We’re going to pray.

[Sister Bruce says, “Course, I’m going to die, unless God undertakes for the heart.”–Ed.]

You’re not going to die, I don’t think, Sister Bruce. If it is, it’s hid from me. [Sister Bruce says, “Thank you, brother.”–Ed.]

Dear God, this little woman has constantly, constantly done good. [Sister Bruce says, “O God!”–Ed.] She is tried, like Dorcas of old. And now she is getting this time of her heart is very bad. [“Oh!”] But did not Your Word, that we put our whole soul and mind in, say that all things will work together for good to them that loves You? Then it must be that You’re working something that we know nothing about. [“Thank God!”] It’s all for the good, for she loves You. Now, to the great Shepherd over all of us, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in His Name, I lay my hands upon my sister. May the God, Who made her and brought her to this earth, may His Spirit that sealed her away from the things of the world, to be Your servant, may It heal her sick body and make her completely well. For we need her in the service, Lord. I commit her to You, with this prayer of faith, my hands laying upon her, to identify myself with the prayer, and say to this mountain, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, be moved,” that our sister may live to the Kingdom of God, and for the glory of God.     `

On the interview a few moments ago I was speaking to a person in the room, that’s present now. Said, “But, Brother Branham, I have so many things that I–I know that’s wrong,” and a–a godly little woman.

I said, “But–but, look, sister, you don’t look at yourself. It’s just what your desire is and what you try to do. And if you really love the Lord, you try to serve Him with all your heart, and then all your mistakes is hid in the Blood of the Lord Jesus.” See? See, He made a way.

And God can’t save you, because He’s already done it. The only thing you have to do is accept it. It’s already done. I wasn’t saved twenty years ago; I was saved nineteen hundred years ago. But twenty years ago I received it and accepted it. If it hadn’t, the first sin I done, God would’ve wiped me off the face of the earth; ’cause He said He would, and He has to keep His promise. I was healed nineteen hundred years ago, but I’ve got to accept it.

And the only thing that kept me from being saved when I was twelve years old, because a spirit hung over me, a devil, saying, “Wait a little while longer.” That’s the reason you wasn’t saved when you become the age of accountability. A spirit, you got with a crowd, and that hovered over you and kept hanging over you. You wanted to do right. There’s not a man that’s got his right mind but what wants to do right, but there’s something won’t let you do right. Is that right? That’s the devil. Hallelujah. Christ paid your healing and your salvation.

Now, here it is. You get ready. He commissioned His Church to cast them devils out. There you are. “In My Name they shall cast out devils. You ain’t going to heal nobody, but you’re going to cast the devil away from them so they can accept the healing I’ve already done.” That’s right.

Preachers stood on the platform and preached the Gospel, devils scatter. The man come to the altar under conviction, say, “I want to get saved.” He never saved the man; he cast out the devil (That’s right.), and the man got saved. He come, accepted his salvation.

The same thing by Divine healing. You sick people here this morning, believe that, and have been born again, and are sons and daughters of God, Christ has already healed you. The only thing keeps you from being well this morning is a spirit hanging over you that won’t fully let you go out yonder and believe God’s promise that He’s done it. That’s right.

Now, that’s my commission. That’s what God gave me; it’s what He give every Gospel preacher who will believe Him: the power and authority to break that spirit. I believe with all my heart that every demon power that’s in here at this minute is already broken. I do. I believe there’s every sick person in here right now feels a lot different. If that’s right, raise up your hand, you who was sick. See there. You, what’s the matter? That devil has broke away from you. He has to. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing of the Word.” Jesus Christ died for you.

Sisten, brother, you’re never saved by any sign. You’re never saved by any sensation. You are saved when you meet God’s condition of His Word, and nothing else are you saved by. That’s right. God’s Word has made a way. You’re not saved because you feel like you’re saved. I’m not saved because I feel like I’m saved, ’cause a lot of times I don’t feel that way. But I’m saved because God gave the promise. I met God’s conditions, and upon God’s holy Word I can defeat Satan seven days in a week, and as many nights, ’cause it’s God’s Word.

«  E-62       †        The reason I’m continue talking, people’s continually standing. Certainly. Stand to your feet. Be what you are. You know in your heart, you say, “Why, here my neighbor sets by me. My pastor setting back there.” But remember, your Saviour is here, too. If He’s speaking to your heart, get to your feet right quick now while we have prayer. Young or old, don’t make any difference. Death’s no respect of persons. It comes to all. Is this it? Is this the crop of the night? If it is, you who standing on your feet, bow your head just a moment.

As a messenger from Christ, as His ambassador, I say this, that you could not have stood by yourself. God spoke to your heart. “And he that will confess Me before men, him will I confess before My Father and the holy Angels.” And as you stand with bowed heads, you’re already saved. When you raise to your feet, God put your name on the Book of Life. If you really meant that from your heart, there’s not enough demons in hell to ever separate you from the love of God that’s in Christ.

I’m going to quote to you Jesus Christ’s own Words. “He that heareth My words…” That’s what I’ve been preaching. “And believeth on Him that sent Me has passed from death unto life, and shall never come to the judgment, but has Eternal Life.” That’s what you have. That’s God’s Word. As a preacher, that’s all I can tell you. That’s all God says.

Now, while you’re standing there, I’m going to offer a prayer. You pray too. In your heart, say, “Thank You, Lord, for saving me. Oh, Lord, I will be a true servant as long as I live.” Those in the balconies, those on the main floors, let us pray.

Blessed Jesus, as the results of the gathering tonight, these many souls has come to the Kingdom. You spoke to their hearts. They were honest. They seen that they were lost. They seen they could not no more save theirself than a leopard could lick the spots off of him. They were totally helpless. But somehow, that great, glorious mighty Conqueror came down and said, “Child of Mine, why are you so weary? I have overcome the world. I have the keys of death and hell. I’ll raise you up at the last day if you’ll only believe on Me.”

And they stood to their feet in a call, and the decision has been made in their heart, that from this hour they’ve turned their affections to You, Lord. And I give them to You as gifts of the ministry, and of the gifts of this message and the gifts of the Holy Spirit that has wooed them to Thee tonight. Thou hast promised in Thy Word, that You’d in no wise cast them out: but that You would give them Eternal Life and raise them up at the last day.

Now, Father, they are Yours. Keep them with Thy Holy Spirit until that day when it’s all finished. And then, together, shall we live through all eternal ages. We thank Thee for them in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen. [Blank.spot.on.tape–Ed.]

Now, what did this do? Showed that these people who were predestinated unto Life, as soon as they saw the Scriptural Truth, they walked in the Truth and received the reward of a believer: the Holy Ghost came upon them, and they spoke in tongues, prophesied, magnified God. You get it now? See? They did that after they’d already had great joy, shouting, and praising God.

…Now, I believe then, that a man is saved when he believes on the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart, and from his heart, not from his outside conscience now…

See, you–you’re a dual person, three people in one, soul, body, and spirit. Now, I believe your outward senses, your–your soul from the–not your soul, but your outside conscience, your senses… When you’re awake, in other words, you’re–you’re operated by five senses: see, taste, feel, smell, and hear. Them were only given you to contact your earthly home; and they’re– they were not given to you to contact your heavenly home. There’s actually six senses in a human body, because he is number six in the Bible. He was created on the sixth day, and he is number six–a man is. And he’s got see, taste, feel, smell, hear, and faith. His faith sets his destination, where he’s headed for.

Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things you do not see, taste, feel, smell, or hear. But by faith, when he catches the Word, It sends him into a dimension (See?) that makes It so real to him, till he’s just as good as got it in his hand. He knows it’s going to happen.
